Prof. Jeremy Nicholson, Prof.Elaine Holmes
In 1985, the collaboration with Prof.Nicholson and his team started while he was at Birkbeck College London, that later got part of Imperial College London. Soon also Prof. Elaine Holmes became an important member of the team. Together the newly developed hyphenated technology and HR-MAS NMR was applied in various fields of NMR, like toxycology screening of new drug candidates based on animal urine and tissues, identification of unknown metabolites, composition of food and drink materials. New insights could be gained based on the SOPs developed at Bruker, e.g. cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and metabolic syndrome, various types of cancer, kidney diseases. Use of the SOPs also allowed broad epidemiological studies, combining data from various sites. The same applied to the common latest research in the Post Acute Covid Syndrome (PACS or Long COVID) and its risks driven at ANPC (the Australian National Phenome Center, https://www.murdoch.edu.au/research/anpc) . Today the collaboration spans from Clinical solutions to to Agricultural and Food solutions.
